Cards - Casinos or gambling houses use the standard type of cards for poker games. Some types of cards are more durable than others. The paper type of cards easily wears out and bent, so the poker players are asked to be careful with them. Aside from asking the players to be careful with the cards, the dealer also must practice the proper manner of which to shuffle the cards so that the cards would last longer. Dealers in casinos get fresh decks every few hours, but house games do not have this type of privilege. When playing at home, some poker players make use of two distinctly different decks so that when one is in used, the other one is shuffled.
Poker Chips - chips are use in place of money because money is hard to stack and handle at the poker table. Bills may fly if not properly handled. Casinos used poker chips, which you can pay for in one of their counters. You can play poker with your friends without using chips, but other people prefer chips even if they were just playing at home.
Poker Table - For poker games played at home, any table will do, just make sure that anyone seated would be able to reach the center of the table. This is vital for placing bets. Poker tables found in casinos have tops made of felt so that the cards would not be scratched, and it would be easier for poker players to pick them up.
Lammers - are buttons or tokens that represent who the dealer is in a poker game. The position of the dealer is significant for the determination of which player at the poker table should post the big blind and the small blind. The dealer button is usually larger than the poker chips, and has a capital D written on top of it.
Cut Card - used in all casinos, this plastic is placed at the bottom of the deck before dealing to prevent anyone from seeing which card is at the bottom of the deck. Rarely used in poker games at home.
Card Protectors - these are things which poker players use to prevent their cards from flying or flipping over. These are used so that no one will know what their hole cards are.
