Two decades later the game spread to Dallas, where it settled for a while.

During the 70's Texas Hold'em's popularity rose significantly and in 1970 the Horseshoe Hotel was opened in Las Vegas by Mr. Binion, a known business man and a professional poker player. He chose to capture a small Poker tournament from Riverside Casino, which had little fame at that time. While most poker games focus on the cards and not on the gambling itself Binion changed that by focusing on the element of gambling of Texas Hold'em, especially on the blinds and antes which had little importance before that time. The game's popularity comes from the fact that players can make big profits in little time, without the need to drag a poker session beyond 2-3 hours.
